Briny: Pickleball Drills — last updated October 20, 2026

In short: Briny needs no account and asks for no name, email address or location. Your progress stays on your device. What reaches us is anonymous usage statistics (which screens and cards were used, and how), stored in the European Union under a random identifier that is not linked to you.

1. Controller and provider

Controller under the GDPR and provider under § 5 DDG (German Digital Services Act):

Martin Wojtaszek
Eiserfelder Str. 1
51109 Cologne
Germany
support@brinypickleball.com

2. What stays on your device

The app stores locally, without sending it to us:

Deleting the app deletes this data. The daily reminder is a notification your device schedules itself; no server is involved.

3. Usage statistics

To learn whether Briny works — whether people come back, which cards are too hard, and whether a paid version would be wanted — the app sends usage events to Mixpanel, Inc.

What is sentExamples
Events in the app app opened, onboarding step completed, round started, completed or quit, card answered (card, right or wrong, response time), drill rated, streak extended, daily goal reached, reminder allowed or not, a setting changed, the "Briny Pro is coming" question shown, answered or closed
Context sent with each event app version, the day the app was installed, your experience level and formats from the first launch, your daily goal, and which planned price the app showed you
Identifier a random identifier created when the app is first launched. It is not your device's identifier, not an advertising identifier, and it changes when you reinstall the app
Device information device model, operating system version and screen size, which the Mixpanel library adds to every event

What is never sent: no name, email address or phone number, no contacts, no location, no advertising identifier. There is no account, so nothing is linked to a person, and nothing is used to track you across apps or websites; the app therefore never asks for tracking permission.

IP address: as with any internet request, your device transmits its IP address to deliver the events. The app switches off Mixpanel's location lookup from the IP address, and the address is not stored with the events.

Where the data lives: Mixpanel is configured for EU data residency: events are sent to its EU endpoint and stored and processed on servers in the European Union. Access by the provider from the United States for maintenance and support cannot be ruled out. Such access relies on standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR) and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR). Mixpanel acts as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR).

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is understanding whether the app works and improving it. The app reads and stores the random identifier on your device only to provide this service; you can object at any time (section 6).

4. Purchases

Briny is free and has no in-app purchases. The "Briny Pro is coming" question shows a planned price and asks whether you would pay it; nothing is sold and no payment data is collected. If purchases come later, this policy will say so before they do.

5. This website

The website brinypickleball.com is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, as our processor, on servers in Germany.

The web server keeps no access logs: page visits are not recorded — no IP address, no time, no page. Your IP address is processed only to deliver the page. If something goes wrong, the server may write a technical error log that can contain the IP address of the failing request; it is deleted after 14 days at the latest. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our interest in being able to fix a server fault.

The site sets no cookies and loads no external fonts, advertising, analytics or other third-party scripts.

6. Retention and your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). A short message to support@brinypickleball.com is enough.

Because there are no accounts, usage statistics are stored only under the random identifier, which we cannot connect to you. Where we cannot identify you from the data we hold, Art. 11 GDPR does not require us to collect more data just for that purpose. Deleting the app removes the identifier from your device; a reinstall starts with a new one.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Ours is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information North Rhine-Westphalia, Kavalleriestr. 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.

7. Children

Briny is made for pickleball players and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If such data comes to our attention, we delete it.

8. Changes

When the app changes what it collects, this policy changes first. The version published here, with the date above, is the one that applies.
